One Prayer

I love creative ideas. And I think One Prayer is a creative idea. I’ve signed up for it, and I think it just might be something we do as a church. What a concept. 

Right now I’m doing a series called “The Secret Message of Jesus”. It’s a series that is pretty hard on organized religion. I’m basically suggesting that Jesus came to put an end to religion – all religion. And he never intended for his followers to establish a new religion in his name. Now, before you comment on the series, take the time to watch the videos so that you know what I said. You can do that by going here and selecting the appropriate folder.

Anyway, some might think that I am critical of other churches (again, if you watch the series you wont think that). Yet I am a very strong believer in unity. I think something very powerful happens when we realize that we are simply a part of a much larger Church. The big “C” Church. 

There are churches, and ministries, around the world that understand the secret message of Jesus and strive to live out that message daily. Some of those churches target specific cultural groups, like we do. Others minister to people from every background. What they have in common is a clear understanding that Jesus has called us to something far more profound than establishing a new religion.

So, that’s why I’m excited about the idea behind “One Prayer”. It will be interesting to see it develop over the next few months.
